Why We Obsessed Over the Perfect Blue for Our Geometrica Furniture Collection

Colour has always been central to our identity as a furniture brand. From the very beginning, we set out to stand apart by infusing our modern furniture collections with bold, expressive hues. The Geometrica Collection marked a pivotal moment in that journey—a true leap forward in our exploration of colour. But getting there was far from simple.

"There is no blue without yellow and without orange." Vincent Van Gogh.

Blue has long been a personal source of inspiration, so when it came time to design the Geometrica Collection, I knew it had to play a starring role. But not just any blue—I had a very specific vision. I wanted the intense, captivating shade made iconic by Yves Klein. It had to be bold and vibrant, a colour that would draw people in whether it appeared on a dining table, console, or cabinet.

We spent countless hours refining the palette, carefully selecting Pantone shades that would complement one another—among them, a striking hue called Dazzling Blue. The clock was ticking: the photoshoot was scheduled, prototypes were being built, and everything had to fall into place.

Then the paint arrived—and my heart sank.

There was nothing dazzling about it. The colour was flat, lifeless, and lacked the intensity I had imagined. Worse, I was told that Dazzling Blue couldn't be recreated exactly due to unavailable pigments. This shade simply couldn’t anchor the collection the way I had envisioned.

Our supplier, thankfully, was willing to work with us on adjustments. I remained hopeful. But when the revised paint came in a few days later, it still wasn’t right—it skewed yellow, and felt cold, industrial, uninspiring. At this point, Adam was understandably frustrated. Every rejected colour added delays and costs. I was frustrated too. I knew the blue we wanted was possible—I remembered we’d used something similar before on a Ridge Console Table in a custom shade.... we scoured our records to find the name- it was Hypnotic Blue.

That was it. That was the blue we needed.

With the right colour finally locked in, we were able to complete the pieces just in time. The collection was styled and shot on schedule—just barely.

One week later, I found myself at the Tate Modern in London, standing in front of Yves Klein’s International Klein Blue 79, the colour that had sparked this entire journey. And all I could think was: I’m so glad I didn’t settle for just any blue.

Why Colour Matters in Furniture Design

At a time when many interior trends lean neutral, we continue to champion bold colours in modern furniture. Colour has the power to evoke emotion, create focus, and transform everyday spaces. Whether you’re choosing a vibrant blue statement table, a colourful cabinet, or simply experimenting with accents, colour is more than decoration—it’s identity.
